Airport Reflections
Some of you may remember the post from a few weeks ago when I was sitting at the Airport in New Orleans, head buzzing with energy and ideas after attending Microconf.
That day I made a promise to myself to say “yes” more often to opportunities “in person”, regardless of whether it’s convenient to get to.
As you can see in my selfie, I am back at the airport. This time in Barcelona about to head back home to Berlin.
A client has had a global on-site here this week and asked me to come and facilitate a sales workshop.
Initially, I was thinking to do this via Zoom. It’s efficient, I don’t need to leave my house and the technology nowadays can do that easily.
But then again, there’d be a group of people in person and me remote.. not ideal. So I just said “yes”. Moved some stuff around in my calendar and booked my flight.
In hindsight, it was so unbelievably worth it. Not just being in a cool city for a few days, but being in the room with a group of ambitious, opinionated, smart and fun people, co-creating the future of their business.
It’s almost a bit weird, like I need to experience this again and again to remember how valuable in-person work really is.
That being said, I am also happy to get back home, catching up on work and jumping right back into client calls with folks from around the world this afternoon from the comfort of my home office.
Bonus Plus: I managed to squeeze in lunch with an old friend, a walk in the part with a fellow business coach and friend and beers with a mate from my days in the US.
Feeling happy, fulfilled and full of energy!
