I actually won the Lottery!
I won the Lottery! No, not metaphorically, really! Sometimes I see these Eurojackpot numbers.. 55Mil, 75Mil, 98Mil ... and I start dreaming.. Imagining all the fun things to do with huge money. I could replace the ageing roof of our house, right now! I could fly anywhere in the world first class short notice to visit friends and family, not wasting even a thought on any budget. I could give away a lot more of my coaching to people who don’t have the means to afford it. I could buy fun experiences for loved ones as random surprises. This could be so much fun!
So sometimes, I get swayed to buy a ticket. It was some random weekday when I saw the Euro Jackpot was almost 100Mil and decided: Today is the day I will crack this Jackpot!!! Long story short, I won. €8.70!
While a little disappointed that there weren’t more digits on the left side of the comma, I moved on with life. Today while I was taking a shower it hit me - I won a much bigger Lottery already.
Imagine a game in which 2.5 Million people will roll a dice simultaneously. That dice doesn’t have the usual 6 sides, but instead has 1 Trillion sides. Count down.. 3..2..1.. Roll. Now imagine these 2.5M people all rolled exactly the same number.
Those are the odds of actually being born! 🤯
Holy crap. Those odds are so insignificantly small, that it’s even hard to imagine the whole thing altogether. With those odds, nobody would play the lottery ever again.
So here I am, the ultimate lottery winner, along with 7.5B other lottery winners standing on a spinning rock in the infinite vastness of space.
Makes me think, do I even appreciate that win enough?
Are you?
