My dad turned 70 yesterday.
I decided to surprise him and drive there with Naura while the kids were at school. It was a long day on the road. 760km in total. Seeing his face when we rang the doorbell and holding up those huge silver balloons in the shape of a “7” and a “0” made it all worth it.
We only had time for 2h there before we needed to head back. 8h of driving for 2h together seems totally nonsensical, yet it was exactly the right thing to do.
Here’s my invitation to you - do something nonsensical & important soon.
PS: The cake was as yummy as it looks!!
Nonsensical stuff most probably is what life makes worth living in many cases...
Great to have parents you love!
(By the way: When my dad turned 75 my wife, kids and I treated him with a trip to the temples of Angkor Wat, which was a dream he had since he was 15, looking into his eyes when he noticed what we had planned and then some months later walking together in Cambodia are some of the most precious moments in my whole life)
