Once I am confident...
It’s a topic that comes up regularly in the work with my coaching clients but also in the work I do with myself and my own growth: Confidence.
There seems to be this belief that Confidence is a prerequisite to do anything important. “Once, I am confident enough about XYZ, I will be able to…”
Pardon my french - that’s absolute BS. It’s the ultimate excuse to never do great things.
Here’s the deal: Confidence is an outcome, not a requirement.
When we dare to do things without being able to predict a favourable outcome, we slowly build confidence. When we operate outside of our comfort-zone, we slowly build confidence. When we are shaking with fear, but do the thing that scares us anyways, that’s when we build confidence.
Confidence is the reward for living courageously.
Once we truly understand that, everything changes.
